Ryobi Laminate Trimmer Review
I don’t know why I thought a chisel for the hinge mortises would be better than using the Ryobi Laminate Router! I am not a woodworker in any way, but to this point, this router/trimmer as been extremely useful. I am certain it could not stand up to the really tough wood routing tasks, but it can stand on its own fairly well depending on the job.
I bought this originally to mortise hinges (see post). Most router bitsfit the tool. Since I bought it, I have also used this to notch out trim and that worked extremely well, also.
The trimmer adjusts easily to the depths desired. The bits change out in a snap. The two things I like best about this router is that it is part of the Ryobi One+ system, so my batteries work with it, also. Secondly, it’s small and easy to control. It fits perfectly and comfortably in your hand, which makes it easy to use.
Just like most other “one battery fits all” systems, the battery life can be exhausted very quickly. The jobs I have used it for to date, however, this hasn’t been much of a problem. Typically, I turn it on and then off about as fast, so the battery for me hasn’t been a huge issue. But, if you’re trying to use this router to do some fancy wood working, it may die well before you’re finished.
The company’s description is as follows:
I would love to hear your thoughts on this tool. How do you use it, how big are the jobs you put it through? Here are some other reviews I found on www.epinions.com.
